The textbook "Hebrew – A Local Language” was created out of Ulpan
Adi’s vision of teaching language as culture and as a human bridge.
The book is based on the "Keys to Language” method – a unique approach
developed at Ulpan Adi through many years of experience in teaching Hebrew as a
living, everyday, and meaningful language. This approach emphasizes
experiential, practical, and connecting learning, and encourages natural,
eye-level encounters between Hebrew and Arabic speakers living within a shared
reality.
Learning in the book is structured around five "keys":
Heart – building a
personal connection to the language and its speakers
Language – practical
tools for everyday conversation
Reading and
Writing –
foundations of literacy in spoken language
Local Culture – familiarity
with daily life, stories, traditions, and customs, and the building of
bridges and connections between the Arabic and Hebrew worlds.

allows flexibility, repetition, and progress at a personal pace – fostering
